These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and VERUS VENTURE LIMITED (Company No. 77437921), having its registered office at 7/F, MW Tower, 111 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong ("Company", "we", "us").
By visiting Opentrailbeacon.shop, downloading open-source firmware, or purchasing hardware products, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
2. Wilderness Risk & Emergency Disclaimer
IMPORTANT WARNING: Backcountry wilderness activities (including alpine mountaineering, desert trekking, deep forest exploration, and white-water navigation) involve inherent risks of physical injury, hypothermia, or loss of life.
- Opentrailbeacon transponders are supplementary navigational and telemetry aids. They DO NOT replace sound mountaineering judgment, proper physical training, paper topographic maps, or physical magnetic compasses.
- Radio signal propagation (LoRa sub-GHz and satellite uplink bursts) can be affected by rock density, physical canyons, solar activity, or extreme weather conditions.
- Intentional transmission of false distress signals is strictly prohibited and subject to severe prosecution by regional Search & Rescue and civil aviation authorities.
3. Radio Spectrum Regulatory Compliance
Users are responsible for verifying that sub-GHz frequency bands (868 MHz for Europe/UK, 915 MHz for Americas/Asia-Pacific) comply with their local telecommunication regulatory body (such as FCC, CE RED, or OFCA Hong Kong). Transmit power limits must be configured according to regional open ISM band allocations.
4. Open Source Licensing & Intellectual Property
Hardware circuit schematics and firmware source code published under GPLv3 or MIT licenses remain governed by their respective license texts. The registered corporate logo, trademark names "Opentrailbeacon" and "VERUS VENTURE LIMITED", visual branding, and web site layout remain exclusive property of VERUS VENTURE LIMITED.
5. Limited Warranty & Liability Threshold
All hardware products carry a 12-month manufacturer defect warranty against component failure under normal recommended operating parameters (-30°C to +50°C). To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, VERUS VENTURE LIMITED shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from radio channel interference or rescue response delays.
